Speech Day
Growing Together, Thriving Together: CCKS Speech Day 2026
Chua Chu Kang Secondary School recently celebrated its 2026 Speech Day, a vibrant afternoon dedicated to honoring the collective achievements of our CCKSians, staff, and partners. Guided by the theme "Growing Together, Thriving Together," the event was a powerful reflection of our school vision: Nurturing CCKSians with Future-ready Mindsets and Empathetic Hearts who Act Responsibly.
Principal’s Address: A Culture of Excellence
In his opening address, our Principal, Mr. Timothy Cheng, reflected deeply on how the school has cultivated a vibrant ecosystem where success is a collective effort. He highlighted that "thriving" is a result of the spirit of continuous learning among our teachers and the collaborative energy of students who engage in interactive learning every day.
Mr. Cheng paid tribute to our Parent Support Group, whose active involvement in milestones like Racial Harmony Day, National Day, Graduation Day, and the Sports Challenge strengthens our school spirit. Beyond our gates, he noted how CCKSians act with Care and Respect by giving back through SG Cares and activities conducted at Bethany Home by our Student Leaders. From empowering minds through global exchange trips to China, Japan, Thailand, and Indonesia, to building a resilient future through our Applied Learning Programme (ALP) on sustainable living, Mr. Cheng emphasized that every experience—whether in outdoor education or community service—is designed to build a deep sense of pride, belonging, and an enterprising spirit.
A Symphony of Excellence
The ceremony opened with a stirring performance by the School Concert Band, setting the stage with the adventurous melodies of Pirates of the Caribbean. This spirit of boldness and harmony carried through the afternoon as we recognized our top academic achievers from the 2025 GCE ‘O’, ‘N(A)’, and ‘N(T)’ Level examinations.
A particularly moving moment was the presentation of the Resilient Achievers Award, honoring students who demonstrated incredible fortitude in overcoming personal challenges. Their stories reminded us that Resilience remains the bedrock of growth at CCKS.
Leadership and Inspiration: Student of the Year
The highlight of the individual awards was the Student of the Year 2025, awarded to Chin Ping Yi. In a heartfelt citation, Ping Yi was lauded for embodying the school's mission to thrive and contribute. In his acceptance speech, he shared a powerful message on Agency:
"Your dreams may shift along the way and that’s okay. It’s the journey, the experience, that reveals what truly matters to you."
Celebrating Our Pillars of Support
Speech Day also honors the community that makes student success possible. Mr. Cheng presented several key awards:
-
Staff Promotions: We celebrated our teachers and executive and administrative staff who were promoted this year, marking their professional growth and expanded contributions to the school’s mission.
-
Long Service Awards: We expressed our deepest gratitude to our long-serving staff for their unwavering dedication and the years they have spent nurturing generations of CCKSians.
-
Friend of the School Awards: We honored our valued community partners and the Parent Support Group, whose collaborative spirit provides the essential support system our students need to excel.
To mark the occasion, a special foil embossing artwork titled "Flourishing Together"—created by student artists Lim Xin Hui Caydia (3A) and Eva Megan Dsouza (3B) — was presented to our Guest of Honour, Dr. Tay Choon Nghee.
Thriving Through the Arts and Action
The theme of unity was brought to life through breathtaking performances:
-
Momentum (Modern Dance): Their piece, inspired by the resilient Rafflesia and Ivy, used fluid formations to show the beauty of standing strong together.
-
Wushu & Taekwondo: A combined showcase that bridged the grace of traditional martial arts with modern precision, symbolizing the strength that comes from combined efforts.
Closing with a Shared Vision
As the school sang the School Song in unison, the sense of pride was palpable. By celebrating our milestones, we reaffirm our commitment to being Ethical and Adaptable CCKSians who seek opportunities for growth and act with empathy. As we move forward, we remain dedicated to the idea that we are at our best when we are Growing Together and Thriving Together.
