Cyber Wellness


Cyber Wellness (CW) refers to the positive well-being of internet users. It involves an understanding of online behaviour and awareness of how to protect oneself in cyberspace.

Chua Chu Kang Secondary School uses this framework to develop our students instinct to protect and empower them to take responsibility for their own well-being in cyberspace. Our curriculum focuses on 2 principles, ' Respect for Self and Others' and 'Safe and Responsible Use' when adhered to will anchor our students well-being in cyberspace as they will then be able to make careful and well-considered decisions.

Sense : Your child should be able to identify the possible risks.

Sense-Think-Act Framework
Think : Your child should be able to analyse, evaluate and reflect on the online situation they are facing based on the two principles.

Act : Your child should be able to translate their understanding into actions that will keep them safe while online.

In CCKSS, we have lessons (4 hours for Secondary 1-4 and 2 hours for Secondary 5) to equip students with life-long social emotional competencies and sound values so that they can become safe, respectful and responsible users of Information & Communication Technology (ICT). 

The CW curriculum centres on two foundational principles from the framework, three big ideas and 4 themes. The three big ideas of Identity , Relationships and Choices are in alignment with the big ideas of Character and Citizenship Education.

To reinforce students’ internalization and ownership of their learning, they will be encouraged to assume three metaphorical roles as (a)Master over technology, (b)Relationship-builder and (c)Protector, in the cyber community. These metaphorical roles provide an organizing framework for students to hang their learning and understanding of CW concepts. 

On top of that, we have student ambassadors to spread the message of CW and to look out for one another. These students also are given the opportunity to plan level and school-wide CW activities like creating surveys targeted at their own schoolmates to find out more on their internet usage and how it may affect them. These students helped to create awareness among their friends and also emphasize on internet safety and what they could do to protect their information online. Secondary 1-3 students were also given the chance to work together during their ICT lesson to create a poster on CW. You may take a look at the students work below:
