Chua Chu Kang Secondary School Direct School Admission (DSA) Application

The DSA-Sec allows students to seek admission to a secondary school on the basis of talents and achievements that may not be demonstrated at the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE). Through the DSA-Sec, students can enter suitable academic and non-academic programmes in Secondary Schools that can develop the students in these areas.

Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.

Primary Six students may seek direct school admission into Chua Chu Kang Secondary School before the Secondary One Posting Exercise (November 2018).
The school invites students in Primary Six in 2018 to apply for DSA-Sec to the school in the school’s Applied Learn Programme – Robotics and Automation.

The school will be using the following DSA criteria:
      1. Experience in Robotics/Electronics/Programming (eg. CCA or certificates from any training organisations or institutions.)
      2. Achievements in relevant competitions related to Robotics/Electronics/Programming (e.g. WorldRobo Competition and National Robotics Competition)
      3. School reports – Academic achievements and CCA records

Applicants who are shortlisted will be invited for an interview, and assessment of knowledge and practical skills related to Robotics and Automation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. When will the results of application be released? How will I be informed?

All applicants will receive the results of application no later than 31 August 2018. You will be informed either through mail and/or email

Q2. What if my child/ward receives more than 1 offer from different secondary schools?

If your child/ward has been successful in more than 1 application, you will be allowed to choose up to three schools of your choice in ranking order. The final posting will be determined by the Ministry of Education based on the choices you have listed.

Q3. My child/ward has accepted a place under DSA-SEC to your school. However, his/her PSLE final PSLE aggregate score does not meet the school’s cut-off marks. Will he/she be posted to another secondary school?

If your child/ward has been accepted into Chua Chu Kang Secondary School under DSA-SEC, he/she will still be admitted regardless of his/her final aggregate score. However, the stream allocated to your child/ward will be determined by the aggregate marks obtained at the PSLE.

Q4. If I am successfully admitted to a secondary school via the Direct School Admission - Secondary (DSA-Sec) Exercise, can I participate in the centralised Secondary 1 Posting Exercise?

If you are successful in the DSA-Sec Exercise, you will be informed of the school that you have been admitted to. Since this place has already been reserved for you, you will not be allowed to participate in the Secondary 1 Posting Exercise to opt for a secondary school.
However, successful DSA-Sec candidates who are eligible for Third Language programme and/or qualify for the course option may exercise their options during the Secondary 1 Option Phase.

Q5. If I am successful in Direct School Admission - Secondary (DSA-Sec) Exercise but I am eligible to study in more than one course [e.g. Express / Normal (Academic)], can I select the course of my preference?

Successful DSA-Sec candidates who have obtained Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) aggregates which put them in the course option [the Express/Normal (Academic) or Normal (Academic)/ Normal (Technical)] are allowed to indicate their preferred course of study in Chua Chu Kang Secondary.

Q6. What if my child / ward is unsuccessful in his/her DSA-SEC application?

Your child/ward will have to participate in the common Secondary One Posting Exercise after the release of PSLE results. Your child/ward will be still eligible to apply to Chua Chu Kang Secondary School as one of his/her six choices. Admission into the school will be considered based on his/her actual aggregate score.

Q7. What if my child/ward is not studying in an MOE school or returning from overseas, will he/she be able to apply for DSA-SEC into your school?

Yes, he/she will be eligible to apply under DSA-SEC into our school. However, you will need to call MOE Customer Service Centre to obtain a registration number. Using that you will be able to submit an application to us.
